The Solheim Cup does not receive the same coverage or generate the same excitement as the Ryder Cup but for those who love women’s golf it is just as important. The 20th edition of the Europe v USA clash will start on the 11th of September and this year it is Europe who are on home soil.
Bernardus Golf, near Den Bosch in the Netherlands, will be hosting, as Europe look to regain the trophy having lost in the US in 2024. That was America’s first win since 2017 but they have not triumphed in Europe since their 2015 success in Germany. The bookies are predicting a tight contest in the Netherlands, with a draw as short as 9/1 with some firms. While some bookmakers make USA marginal favourites, others prefer Europe, so we should be in for a thrilling battle.
On Monday the 3rd of August we took a big step forward towards the action, as European skipper Anna Nordqvist revealed her picks, finalising the European team. The Swedish ace, who has won three of the five majors, and at the age of 39 could still add to that, opted for Ireland’s Leona Maguire, Spanish star Julia Lopez Ramirez, Nastasia Nadaud of France and English 24 year old Mimi Rhodes.

Charley Hull

Charley Hull has to star if Europe are to regain the Solheim Cup and she will be one of the leaders out on the course. Ranked number six in the world she has been as high as three this year. Now 30 she is hugely experienced, having played in seven previous editions of this tournament, boasting a win rate of over 61%. She is yet to win a major but was tied sixth at the British Open at the start of August and tied second at the US Open earlier in the year.
Esther Henseleit

Germany’s Henseleit qualified in second, behind Hull, but comes into the competition down in 19th in the Rolex World Rankings. This will be her second Solheim Cup after making her debut last time around. She took 1.5 points from an available three in 2024 but will hope for more having gained experience now.
Lottie Woad

Woad is up to number five in the world rankings and is sure to be a star of the future. She is a top player right now, even at just 22 years of age, and she is one to watch on her Solheim debut. She has two top-10s in majors this year and won her second LPGA event back in May. It would be no surprise if she was her team’s top points scorer.
Maja Stark

26 year old Stark is appearing in her third Solheim Cup and is a player who can rise to the big occasion, as she did when winning the 2025 US Open. She will hope 2026 is more like her Solheim debut in 2023, when she won two and halved one of her four matches, than her second appearance in 2024 when she took just 1.5 points from four.
Celine Boutier

With four past appearances in this event French 32 year old Boutier is one of the more experienced players in the European side.
Carlota Ciganda

Spain’s Ciganda is down in 50th in the world rankings but at 36 and with seven previous Solheim Cups behind her, she brings bags of experience to the table. She is the oldest player on Team Europe.
Linn Grant

Grant is the second Swede on the playing side and will be a trusted on-course deputy for her compatriot Nordqvist. Aged 27 this will be her third contest and she will be desperate to improve what is currently a poor record.
Nanna Koerstz Madsen

At 31 the Dane is another elder stateswoman but this will only be her second Solheim Cup, having previously played in 2021. It is some time since she won a tournament and she is unlikely to play as much as some other members of the team.
Leona Maguire

Maguire may count herself fortunate to receive a captain’s pick given she is ranked 83rd in the world and has missed the cut in four of her last six events. However, the 31 year old will be playing in her fourth Solheim Cup and boasts a stunning record of eight wins from 12 matches. She won 4.5 points on her debut in 2021.
Julia Lopez Ramirez

23 year old Spaniard is one of four rookies and could form a good partnership with her compatriot Ciganda. Ranked 86th in the world.
Nastasia Nadaud

France’s Nadaud brings consistency to the team and at the age of just 21 could be a feature of many more Solheim Cups in the future. She secured her spot on the 2026 LPGA Tour at Q-Series and will be fearless on her Solheim debut.
Mimi Rhodes

Rhodes only turned professional in 2024 and was part of the amateur team that won the Curtis Cup that year on home soil, alongside Woad. She had a mixed tournament then but will hope to do better here. Her form has not been great leading into the Solheim Cup and she is ranked 91st in the world.
