New to Golf?

So you fancy yourself as a Golfer, this guide will give you a good idea of the equipment and rules you will need, before going on your first round.

First of we will start off with a brief overview of the rules.

Teeing Off
When you go to the teeing area there will normally be three coloured markers.

Red - Ladies
Yellow - Non-competition mens Golf
White - Competition mens Golf

You must place your tee either in-line with the coloured markers or upto 2 clubs length behind them.

The Rough
If you find that as a result of your shot, your Golf ball is near anything that is unattached or dead, you may remove these. But be warned, if your ball moves at the same time, you will receive a penalty of 1 stroke.

Out of Bounds
Hopefully you will never do this, but if you do, go back to where you played the shot in the first place, you will get a penalty of 1 stroke.

The out of bounds area is marked with white posts.

The Green
You've made it to the putting green, however be careful, because if your ball hits either the flag or the ball of someone you are player you will receive a 2 stroke penalty. To stop this you could place a marker, which must always be placed behind the ball, before removing your ball.

Etiquette

Now not really rules, but other things you should bear in mind, to make your round of Golf more enjoyable.

>> If you make a divot, always replace.
>> If after landing on the green, your ball makes a pitchmark, make sure you repair the putting green.
>> Rake the sand if you have played in a bunker.
>> If playing on your own, always give way to other Golfers.
>> Whoever is furthest from the hole, should always play their stroke first
>> Don't talk or move around, if someone is playing their shot.

Enjoy your Golf!
